- Create a set of company values that everyone can adhere to. When building company values, make sure to get input from all levels of the company and take time to see that all new employees are on board as well.
- Say hi. You don’t have to be best friends with everyone at work but a positive and caring environment is much better than a negative and non-caring one. Say hi to colleagues, take coffee breaks together and create a “we” feeling at work.
- Remember that everyone has an important role to play. The receptionist on the front desk has just as an important job as the CEO on the top floor, who has just as an important job as the office cleaner, who has just as an important job as the company president. Value everyone for the work that they do.
- Reward your staff. The old saying from 1659 “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” still holds true today. If your team performs well then reward them well. And if they don’t perform well, then at least reward them for trying their best.
- Encourage your staff to grow. We all feel more motivated to do our job the best way we can when we have the right training and mindset. Employees that feel challenged and invested in, more often than not are happier in the workplace.
